Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
Hi i got served a summons at work. The summons says I and the hotel or the hotel are being sued. My question is, is the hotel being sued and I am a part of the hotel, or am i being sued as an individual apart from the hotel, the hotel legal council received a summons as well. The summons reads, Notice to Defendant: KEATING HOTEL GROUP,LLC, OSMANI RODRIGUEZ an individual and does include 1 through 10, inclusive. Since this is an incident that occured at work i would think the hotel is responsible and should defend me. thank you.

It sounds like you're being sued as part of your job. The law in California is clear that you're entitled to payment of your work-related costs (including your defense) by the employer. You might think about contacting a company executive -- probably in Human Resources -- and inform that that, since the lawsuit is related, you'd appreciate being able to speak with and be represented by the same lawyers who will represent the hotel. Unless you are accused of doing something outside the responsibilities of your job, I don't think they would deny that request.
