Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

I went to a state park recently in my Motor Home, it was perfectly legal for me to park my RV in the parking lot so that I could hike in to the rustic campground to tent camp.

We opted to sleep in our rv instead of hiking in, but the Ranger told us we could not sleep in our rv, I believe my rights were violated because:

1. we paid for the tent site and the parking site.

2.the rv is our home and we are allowed to do whatever we want in it.

We were not doing anything at all to anyone or disturbing anything other than just parking there, we were not violating any rules that were in our written contract either, we were only told verbally by this ranger we could not sleep in our rv.

What say you?

Most parks, state and federal, prohibit overnight camping in parking areas. It is perfectly legal for them to designate where the public may or may not camp.
