GOVERNMENTAL TORT LIABILITY IS BASED UPON STATUTE. THE GENERAL STATUTE OF LIMITATION FOR A BODILY INJURY CLAIM FOR AN ADULT IS ONE YEAR, HOWEVER FOR A CLAIM AGAINST A PUBLIC ENTITY YOU MUST FIRST FILE A CLAIM FORM WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF THE OCCURRENCE. THERE ARE WAYS TO EXTEND THE DEADLINE IN SOME CASES BUT THE ONE YEAR STATUTE WILL BE ABSOLUTE.

The statute is 1 year, however, you also need to file a tort claims notice.
