Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Totaled Car

4 1/2 years ago I got a car in my name. My boyfriend at the time did not have a car so I let him use it. We broke up shortly after and he said that he wanted to make payments. I told him to get the car in his name, he refused. I told him to take my name off the insurance, he refused. I wrote papers for him to sign saying the car belonged to me until it is paid off and he refused. He totaled the car and is now asking for the insurance money. The car is in my name, the insurance check was made out to just me. He is now asking for the insurance money. Legally does he have any right to the insurance money?

Re: Totaled Car

I don't know whether he has a legal right to the money, but he'd have to take you to court for it, and you have nothing to lose by telling him to go pound sand.
