Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
In an Unlawful detainer with me as the defendant, how do I ask for permission to file a counter claim? Do I have to make an ex parte application for this?
Can I file it after I have filed my answer, or do I have to file it at the same time I file the answer? Any info on this will be helpful. Thank you.

You can file a cross-complaint at the same time you file your answer; you only need court permission if you file it after filing the answer.
