If you are REGISTERED domestic partners, you would inherit your partner's property to the extent he/she has no kids. If you are not registered, you might have a fight on your hands. In any case, you might want to prepare estate plans for each of you to make things more tidy. Also, your partner could add you to the car's title as a joint owner so that you would have rights of survivorship.
