Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California
If I have a written agreement with a person and I take them to small claims court and win, would that mean that the whole written and signed contract is null and void (because, there is potential to sue above the small claims reward amount in the contract)?

Whether you win or not in small claims court has no bearing on whether the contract is valid. You can sue beyond the contract for other losses, and you can also limit your claim to an amount lower than the small claims limit.
