Legal Question in Technology Law in California

computer access

In my divorce, my ex-wife kept my personal computer and refused to give it to me. She told me she gave all my stuff away. 2 years later I find out she did a forensic search on the hard drive and is telling others what I had on my computer. Is there anything I can do about it.

Re: computer access

I'd say so; even if the property division awarded her the computer, it would not authorize divulging personal information to persons with no particular right to know. You could probably get an injunction and possibly money damages if you can prove financial harm. This is probably a job for a lawyer who works in the area of privacy torts rather than technology law, however.
