Copy Right on Audio CDs

I am thinking about gathering some songs from my favorite CDs and copy them onto a CDR. Is that considered copyright infringement?

If it is not, then can I create copies of the audio CD that I created and distribute to some friends.

Please advice. Thanks.

you can do it for personal use but if you give copies to friends that would probably be a violation
