Dedicated service line (DSL) sales/installation
DSL was installed on my primary phone line in May 2002 for my personal computer. The opportunity arose to work at home with the need for a second line. I ordered a second DSL line, the provider noting that I already had one line installed, but assuring me I could have the second line installed in a week's time. They sent a free modem with a one-year contract with a $200 penatly for early cancellation. After two weeks, I am now being told I can't have more than one line. Isn't this misrepresentation/fraud and do I have any recourse against this company?

Did you suffer any damages as a result of misrepresentations on their part?

I can't see the case being worth your while... even with alleged damages because of the possibility of mitigation.
Here's some computer advice (did you expect this at lawguru.com?). I just did this at home... go to any computer store and buy a DSL router. I just bought a wireless one for $149.99.
In the long run, this is MUCH cheaper than paying for an entirely new DSL line.
And, it was an easy install...
The router allows you to hook the current DSL line into it... then you can hook up as many computers as you like (that have ethernet cards built in - the slot where you put the DSL cable into the computer).
If you went to the computer shop now, you could have it working within an hour or so.
Good luck...
E-mail me if you want some more info on the router system...
