Legal Question in Technology Law in California

My family has an extremely negative, false and misleading comment posted about her on the first page of google. I have asked the webmaster, website owner to remove the post but they won't. Do I have any other options?

You can always sue them for defamation, just keep in mind that the truth or at least a reason to believe it is true is an automatic defense and they are always free to counter for any damages if they win.

Another option is the small claims court where no lawyer is needed and the award is capped at $5000 I believe.

I also agree that sending a demand letter from a lawyer would be a good first step. This will cost something of course and no guarantees can be made that it will work.

If you would like to discuss further over a free phone consult, feel free to contact me anytime that is convenient.

Kind regards,

Frank
