Legal Question in Technology Law in California
Internet Pornography
Hypothetical situation: You own and operate an online multiplayer game in which the users can create their own content. Some of the users create pornographic images and engage in sexual activity such as ''cybering'' in the game. This is not against the game rules as all users must be 18 or over.
Question: What steps are the game owners legally required to take to ensure all users are of legal age beyond a simple credit card charge, and can they be held liable if a minor tricks the system and gains access to the pornographic images.

You are operating an adult site and must comply with the corresponding federal laws. We can review your site and provide you with the corresponding notices. We can also revise your TOS. Feel free to contact me. As general counsel for hosting companies, I have reviewed many sites and shut down those that did not comply.
