Legal Question in Technology Law in California
*nix related Lawsuit on non-commercial use of poular *nix OS
I am a non-commercial user of a popular *nix operating system.
Due
to all
the recent events surrounding the *nix related lawsuits I have
gotten concerned
about the possibilty of an end-user lawsuit. Their site says
''At this time, (company name) is focusing on the commercial
uses only.''
Saying ''At this time...'' I am worried that they could file a suit on
non-
commercial users anytime. The problem is that they won't allow
non-
commercial users to buy a license to use a popular *nix OS. I
have no choice
but to
allow myself to be sued. Is there anything I can do outside of
spending
thousands to rebuild my home computer network?

Don't worry. The SCO lawsuit is not targeting individual users. SCO's claims appear without any merit from what I've heard and read. IBM is defending vigorously and they have the best copyright lawyers around. Just relax.
