Does the owner of a cell phone account have a right to get copies of text messages sent to and from the phones in that account? The text messages are known to be saved in the files of the phone company, in this case AT&T

The phone company would probably produce the documents, for a reasonable charge, if subpoenaed in the context of ongoing litigation. Whether they would produce them, absent a court order (such as a subpoena), would be a matter of company policy, as would be the charge, and I don't know the answer. Why not just ask them? As to whether you have a "right" to get copies, I'd say no.
