Privacy Rights in Photographs

If a photograph is taken for use of accompanying a story online about our non-profit organization, is permission required from the subject of the photograph? The use is not harmful nor does it include any profit. The photographs would be of people in our programs. Is their permission necessary to post the photograph online with stories of our programs?
