Legal Question in Technology Law in California

Product or Other Liability for Internet Reseller

If a person wants to resell other--name removed--products on the internet, what liability could they face and how could this be minimized either through corporate structure or insurance?

For instance, Person X decides to sell Company--name removed--ABC Coffee Mugs on the internet by setting up a website. Their website takes the orders and when an order is received, Company ABC is notified and mails out the product. Person X just serves as a middleman. Could they be sued if the coffee mug breaks and damages person or property or other such scenarious and how can these risks be controlled?

Thank you!
