Legal Question in Technology Law in California
I received several fake emails from a politician who has been at odds with me personally for several years over a specific matter. It is a crime in California to send annoying emails but can I file a civil suit. The emails weren't threatening, only annoying.

This probably comes closest to "civil harassment" than anything else; it is defined in Code of Civil Procedure section 527.6, subsection (b), but I'm rather doubtful that "annoying" rises to the level where a court would grant you a restraining order. Look it up and judge for yourself.
