Legal Question in Technology Law in California

not shipping to california

I elected to purchase some glassware off a brand name ecomm site . When I had to call customer service to place my order, I was told that '' due to a new California law they could not ship any pottery /glassware to my state. I asked where I was talking to and they stated Nevada . Has anyone heard of such a law? If this is posted under the wrong header , please put it on the correct one.

I'm stumped. I was able to find lots of glassware companies that ship to California.
