Going into someone's e-mail

Is it a crime to go into someone's email and read and print it? If there is a case for prosecution, when was this law enacted? A person in a case I was involved in, testified to breaking my email password code and reading and submitting my emails in this case. To have I cause for a legal action? Can I bring charges against this person?

I do know of any criminal code section that covers this. As far as a civil case, you could probably file a lawsuit for invasion of privacy.
