Legal Question in Technology Law in California
Subpoena requiring to disclose information from yahoo account.
I sent an e-mail to an ex co worker. My position was eliminated do to his actions. MY ex co worker stole company property and in return 3 people were terminated. Nothing happened to him. IN the e-mail I told him that I Was going to disclose all the information I knew about him to the board of directors. ''Unless we made a deal.'' Inever asked for anything. My intentions were to scare him into confessing. He did confess and all comunication ended after that. On 07/29/05 The ex company subpoenad all my personal information from my Yahoo account. Did I do anything illegal? What does my ex company want with my information? OR what could they do?

Re: Subpoena requiring to disclose information from yahoo account.
I would contact an attorney to immediately file a motion to have the subpoena quashed, or a protective order issued. The attorney you retain should 1) first write a letter to the co. demanding the subpoena be withdrawn; and 2) the attorney should be familiar with the ECPA (Electronic Communications Privacy Act).
