Legal Question in Constitutional Law in California

I was arrested and charged with a crime. As time progressed I was released from all charges. However the arrest was well publisized on the internet and if you google my name it shows up very easily. Even though in most of the articles now it states I was released from all charges. I am starting to feel some backlash looking for a job. Can I obtain & use a legal alias to avoid these problems?

You can use, without getting court approval, any name you wish as long as it is not to defraud someone. Since you have not been convicted of a crime, it is not lying on a employment application to say you have not been convicted, but an employer who investigates may ask why you are not using your birth name. You might want to speak to several criminal defense attorneys and see if you can get your record expunged and what can be done as to the internet listings.
