Legal Question in Constitutional Law in California
jury duty
If serving on a jury is considered a privilege, why can't I give up that privilege? I am willing to give up my voteing privilege if that's what it takes. Is there a legal way to do this? Is refusing to serve a felony?

Re: jury duty
Jury service is not a "privilege" but rather a duty of citizenship -- one of the very few obligations our country imposes upon its citizens. (Paying taxes is the only other one that leaps to mind, though when a draft is in effect military service would also belong on the list.)
Your question incorrectly presumes that this is a privilege you can decline to exercise. There is no legal way to avoid the obligation to serve if called upon to do so.
