Re: right to privacy on winning the lottery

If you have won the lottery, congratulations! Hire a good tax lawyer and get good investment advice right away. Your right, if any, to privacy varies from state to state. My best guess is that your name is a matter of public record. But you can always get an unlisted number and a house with tall fences and big, mean guard dogs. Some states may require as a condition of receiving a lottery prize that you consent to use of your name or likeness or that you participate in other promotional activities. You might well be able to challenge any such requirement as an unconstitutional infringement on your right to privacy.
