Target Practice on Political cardboard cutouts

Do I have the right of free speech to use lifesize cardboard cutouts of political figures as targets for hand gun practice, on private property? How about any other charitures?

Re: Target Practice on Political cardboard cutouts

The use of drawings or caricatures of living persons as targets on private property, where the discharge of firearms is otherwise lawful, may well constitute a legal exercise of your First Amendment rights, may be fun for you, and may even be a psychologically healthy way to vent your anger (for all I know, I'm no shrink). But if you do this, at best most people will think you are weird. You could be sued by the "target" individuals for infliction of emotional distress, or accused of violating laws against making terroristic threats. Testing the limits of your First Amendment rights under these circumstances, and in this day and age, would require the expenditure of substantial financial and legal resources in order for you to avoid certain jail time and/or civil damages.

My advice is to shoot only at blank, or generic, targets and keep any homicidal thoughts inside your head where you cannot be prosecuted for them.
