Legal Question in Construction Law in California
02/14 our bathroom retile was completed by a shady contractor. I purchased tile through my credit card not knowing they put the transaction under his name. The tile was changed and first order canceled, credit was never applied back to my card. Instead credit went as store credit under contractor's account with store. They refused to clarify this so I disputed the charge. I was awarded back full charge 08/14 the tile store has now filed a mechanics lien against my home.
Under civil codes they are beyond their time frames and our contractor didn't have a license but used his father's company.
Do they have any rights?

Unfortunately, once they file the lien, it is up to you to prove the lien was untimely or otherwise defective. You should consult with an attorney in person for help getting this cleared up.
