As soon as the bankruptcy is filed and you have a case number, the trial court must be notified by filing and serving a Notice of Stay of Proceedings on Judicial Council Form CM-180. These forms are available at www.courtinfo.ca.gov/forms. It is a one-page form BUT must be served on all other parties, and then attach a Proof of Service before filing with the court clerk. Get it done as soon as possible after the BK filing so people don't waste time preparing for a trial that probably isn't gonna take place. The result should be that the trial and all other proceedings will be taken off calendar.
