Legal Question in Construction Law in California
In California, how many tiers are allowed lien rights? I am an equipment supplier and a customer wants to rent a machine, but he is already a 3rd tier subcontractor. This would make our company a 4th tier supplier. I understand that CA allows only 3 tiers for lien rights. Please clarify and provide code reference.

There is no limit on tiers. If you provide labor, materials, equipment or supplies to a work of improvement of real property, and give the required 20-day notices before you do so, you will have the right to file and enforce a mechanics lien if not paid, as well as stop notices. I can't give you a code citation because there simply isn't any code section that says there is any limit.
