Legal Question in Construction Law in California
I'm a college student and I was putting up Christmas Lights for someone, when I fell off the ladder.
I damaged some of his tiles and the homeowner decided not to pay me and bill me for the cost of the repairs for the roof and for another company to take down the lights.
Am I liable for the roofing damages?

A lot depends on whether you were an employee or an independent contractor. On the flip side, were you hurt? There's a pretty good chance that the homeowner would be liable for your injuries, especially if you were considered an employee working for an hourly wage.
