Legal Question in Construction Law in California
I was a concrete contractor 2 years ago and I got a job to do on 6/2008 it was 11 feet by 22 feet patio with concrete in the center and a brick border around the perimeter. I completed the job customer was happy and paid me in full.... he calls me 13 months later telling me that the brick open at the seams in some of the area, he wants to take me to court.. I explained to him That I do not do concrete work anymore and that the business has gone under 10 months ago. Am I liable for anything?.
1 Answer from Attorneys
Possibly. It depends on a lot of factors. Was the business a corporation? What is the cause of the "brick open at the seams?" It may require an expert to determine this. A contractor's liability can extend for as long as 10 years, but this can get quite complicated.
