Legal Question in Construction Law in California
Construction warranty...what if???
If a home owner contacts the contractor concerning an alleged defect and the contractor inspects the "issue" and concludes it was caused by conditions other than "the contractors workmanship" and declines liability is he still responsible to correct the defect.
Many home owners take this CSLB mandatory warranty as if it is a 100% guarantee for the full four years no matter the causes, in many cases the cause could be normal wear and tear, neglect, etc. I've had home owners insist that I come back two years after final completion to make any and all repairs under the license boards four year warranty,

The warranty is against defects in materials and workmanship. Damage from other causes is not covered.
