Legal Question in Construction Law in California

If a contractor has their licensed revoked or suspended by operation of law for failure to obtain WCI, once the judgment is lodged, can homeowner then ask the judge to award attorney fees even if the contracts don't mention attorney's fees? I have not found any cases to use in California to justify asking, but it seems I read somewhere that this was possible.

Your question is missing some important facts. On what basis are you suing him or vice versa? As an unlicensed contractor he is not entitled to collect anything. Attorney fees are only awardable if the contract allows for them or the law that yo ar esuing under permits them. I do not think any applicable legal cause of action you might have would allow for legal fees.

The situation you described does not support an award of attorneys fees.
