Legal Question in Construction Law in California
Dear Mr. Ladevaia,
What about the second part of my question. The cabinet maker referred the painter to us, in good faith we went with his referral. We didnt find out till later that he wasnt licensed. Legally what part, if any does the cabinet maker play in this?

Not much of a role. Unless there was a general contract where the painter was a sub-contractor to the cabinet maker, there is no liability. Good luck.
