Legal Question in Construction Law in California

General Contractor & Prelim Notice

Is it alrigiht for a prime contractor to give a owner a 20-day prelim notice? (Calif. Contractors law states they do not need to, but is it alright if you do?)This is for new construction-$600,000 contract for a new home and I would like to issue a prelim notice since we will also be supplying our own labor throughout the construction and our laborers will also be doing the framing for our company).

Thanks,

LW

Re: General Contractor & Prelim Notice

As you're aware, since you have a direct contractual relationship with the owner, I don't know why you need or want to send them a 20 day notice, but it isn't illegal to do so.
