Legal Question in Construction Law in California
My husband is a handyman. He was doing a plumbing job for a lady, who after he worked 2 days for her she tells him to stop working because she was going to call her homeowners insurance and put in a claim. The claim was denied by her insurance and now she is saying my husband needs to fix the problem because she paid him. My question is, is he responsible for finishing the job after she told him to stop working so she could file an insurance claim?

If she paid him for the work, and he hasn't completed the job, then yes; although if the scope of work (including work and materials) was more than $500, he is likely operating illegally without a license (I assume by "Handyman" you also mean he does not have a contractor's license), in which case, I suggest he return any money she gave him and tell her she should hire a licensed plumber.
