Legal Question in Construction Law in California
Stop Notice
We performed work for a Gen. Contractor in California on a City Public Works Project and now need to file a Stop Notice with the public works department for money the contractor is unwilling to pay us. Can the General Contractor bond around the stop notice?

Re: Stop Notice
Yes the General can bond around the lien by posting a bond in the amount of 125% of the claim. This dosen't change your rignts; you still have to sue to collect, except you now have to sue the surety instead of the City.
Best of luck
