California Rules of Court 225 says that whenever a lawsuit is settled or otherwise disposed of, the plaintiff shall immediately notify the court in writing and serve notice on any arbitrator or other neutral involved in the matter. If a hearing or meeting is imminent at the time of the settlement, all interested parties must also be notified by telephone or the like. Finally, the plaintiff must file and serve a request for dismissal within 45 days of the settlement.
