Considering it is public record, why wouldn't you want to give it to them, . . . unless you don't have one?

Most contractor display their license number rather widely, including painting on their trucks, printing it on their business cards, and posting identifying signs at the job site. Whether a tenant has a right to know the number and classification of a contractor's license is probably a policy matter that the CSLB has rueld upon, and my guess would be that the CSLB believes contractor license information should be made available to anyone with a legitimate interest in how a job is carried out, and not just the owner. A temant would certainly fall under the heading of a party with a legitimate interest in the performance and results of a contractor's work affecting their leasehold in any way. Give it to the tenant.
