Legal Question in Construction Law in California

Unlicensed Contractors

I understand a ''handyman'' who is unlicensed can only charge up to $500. What if he does several repair jobs at the same property? Is it $500 per repair or for the entire bill?

Re: Unlicensed Contractors

It is $500 for the job, so if it is all one job, then the max that s/he can charge you is $500. Make sure you have his obligations in writing, what you expect for the $500.

You should check out the California State Licensing Boards website, it will provide you with most answers and answers on how to protect you.

I have the website and other helpful sites under "links" on my website www.shefmanlaw.net
