Legal Question in Construction Law in California

We are doing work on a home we just bought which included redoing the front sidewalk, curb & gutter. Our new neighbors are saying that the contractor we hired got cement on there car. They brought this to my attention 27 days after my contractor completed the job. They got a quote to clean/detail/remove cement from car ($500.00). Am I responsible to pay for this or should I give the neighbors the contractor's info and let them handle it between themselves?

As a general rule, you're ultimately responsible for the conduct of your agents working on or around your property. However, I'm guessing your contract with the contractor contains (at least I hope it does) a clause that the contractor is responsible for any damage it causes. Therefore, while you may be initially responsible for this, ultimately your contractor is liable to you to reimburse (defense and indemnity) the costs. I would inform the contractor, provide whatever information you have and ask them to take care of this.
