Legal Question in Construction Law in California

Work Incentives

I have worked at a company for 6 years as a supervisor and every month we would get an incentive for production, well a couple of months ago they stopped giving us out incentive/bonus first stating that they needed to buy a company machine , then saying that we,supervisors were not doing our job right. I know in the past they deducted our incentives for company losses or damages but they have never taken it all away. Is this legal? Now supervisors are making the same wage as a regular workers and struggling to make ends meet.

Re: Work Incentives

This is better asked to an employment law attorney. However, with that said it is most likely 100% legal. Unless there is a signed written employment agreement between you and the employer, you are an "at-will" employee and may be hired, fired, and paid how the employer sees fit as long as the pay complies with the minimum wages and overtime laws etc. I am afraid you are probably out of luck. I suggest you start looking elsewhere for another job if you do not like it.

I'm afraid that this is an employment law question. You may wish to re-ask it to the employment law guys. But as a general rule, wages are subject to whatever contract you and your employer worked out between yourselves. There are, however, a million rules surrounding employment and wages. The employment law lawyers may see something here that a construction law attorney wouldn't see.
