I work once or twice a month,The person has always paid me cash.Now he want's my social security # must i give him this information?

Yes, though you can make them request it on the standard IRS for for requesting tax payer identification numbers.

Yes. Once your compensation reaches a certain level ($600 in any year), the person you work for has to report the amount paid to the IRS and you.....you will receive a 1099-MISC in January, copy to the IRS, and the SSN is needed to fill out the 1099.
