Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
I have 2 voicemails on my old cell phone that i currently check voicemails left on occasions as well as my sister, since she used to use that phone. Recently, I recieved 2 different voicemails from van rue credit corp about a debt I owe. My sister was the one checking the voicemails at the time, It was very embarassing for me, The voicemail is as follows that my sister heard.
Hello this is an important call for (my name), please call Van Rue Credit Corporation at 800-337-2065, thank you. This is from a debt collector attempting to collect a debt and any information will be used for that purpose.
My question is that legal?

I am happy for you that you get collection calls so rarely that they are embarrassing to you. I know lots of people for whom times are hard, and whose phones ring with calls like these day and night.
