Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
We took our antique map to an map collector dealer. He refuses to return our map. It was the only thing of value we had left after our home burned down in January 2015. Map was valued at $250,000.

It sounds as if there should be more to the story. Did the collector/dealer give you a receipt for the map? Why is he refusing to return it? Did you give it to him on consignment, i.e. to sell and he would take a commission?
