Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
I was apparently served legal documents at my place of work however I did not recieve anything. They did not have any of the correct contact information in thier records with the exception of my work address. The person I spoke with said that I was served at my home which is not the case. I never recieved any phone calls or letters from this company. This was a medical bill and I would have paid it or made arrangements if I recieved any notices. Can they serve someone and proceed with sueing them without them being made aware of the proceeding?

Unfortunately, it happens all of the time. What you need to do is find out when and where the lawsuit was filed, and then file an answer asap. If a default judgement was already entered, you will need to file a motion to vacate the default. We have successfully vacated these types of judgements for clients. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact me.
