Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

I was approached by a local web marketing company to create local visibility with Google for my website. I signed a six-month contract, and they designed and wrote most of the content as they needed to use SEO keywords. After four months, the local site has not produced a single enquiry for my business, either by phone or email. I am not happy to have to continue paying for something so useless to me, and would like to opt out, but am told I have to continue for the entire 6 months regardless, or pay a $400 early cancellation fee. Am I in my rights in breaking the contract if I have not experienced any benefit from this site?

The following is just my opinion. It sounds like you might've been scammed. My advice to you is to look online to see if others have had the same situation. If that is the case, then you might have a case for fraud.

As an attorney, I get a lot of the same offers where someone says that they can make my online presence more visible. I myself have had no success with these sites.

Let me know if you would like to discuss this further. I don't have all the facts now and I'm not implying that anybody has committed a fraud, but it might be worth looking into.

You might need to obtain counsel if you want to further investigate whether a tortious or criminal fraud has been occurring.

Again, the above is just my opinion and I am not saying a fraud has been committed.
