Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Need an atty in CA
My son is making a selling natural dog and cat food in his home. Does he need any special license, disclaimers, etc? I would like to see an answer from an atty in the state of CA if possible. Thanks.

Mr. Stein is correct. I would add that he may also need a home business permit from his local jurisdiction in addition to any local business licences required. If he operates the business under a fictitious name he would need to file a fictitious name statement.

He needs several licenses, including potentially a license for a commercial kitchen. He should also consider insurance issues and how he is going to structure the business. He should consult with a business attorney in his area.

Just FYI, our CA attorney agreed with the answer we posted, which would cover every state in the country.
