Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Billing dispute.
A heating company came out to diagnose a problem, their diagnosis fee was $99.00. When the technician came he told us that the diagnosis fee would be applied towards the cost of repairs and proceeded to change a part in our appliance. He said he would return the next day to finish the job. He did not come back and did not call until 4 days later. In this time we went ahead and called another company to finish the job. The first company wants to bill us seperately for the part and the diagnosis now. And there was no contract signed by us. Do we owe them the full amount or just the $99.00 fee?
