Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Billing - Late Charge Question
Is there a minimum number of days between the date a bill is mailed and the date after which a late fee is charged? Our Marina bills us for electricity in addition the the set monthly slip rent. since I don't know the billing amount I cannot pay the 'rent' until I receive the bill. My last bill was mailed 21 sept (from San Diego to PHX) is due 1 Oct and late 5 Oct. This leaves 15 days for the bill to get to PHX and the Payment to get back to San Diego. If I'm out of town for a couple of days during this crucial time period, it's nearly impossible to pay the bill in time. Is this legal?

Re: Billing - Late Charge Question
Give someone you trust a power of attorney to pay your marina bill. Or, have them e-mail you the bill. That way you'll get it the same day it's processed.
