Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
i bought a used car from a guy and he didnt have smog at the time. I went to go get it smoged and it wont pass cause check engine light is on. Smog guy said error message from Check engine light was that the transmission was bad. I had mechanics look at it and they say need a new transmission. I called guy I bought from and told him it wont pass smog and I know the seller is responsible for car passing smog. So i am i right that he either gives me my money back or fixes car and get smoged? or is there some law that he is protected by. I know "as is" doesnt mean it doesnt have to pass smog right?

I think you are correct. But this would be a difficult case even for an attorney.
