Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Bringing alcohol into a hotel
Is there a California law that states a hotel guest cannot bring alcohol into the hotel? There is a restaurant on the premises of the hotel in question, which does serve alcohol. Does that make a difference?

Re: Bringing alcohol into a hotel
Just like a restaurant, a hotel has the right to demand that you drink only liquor you bought from them. However, most hotels do not strictly enforce this, for example for individuals or couples who bring a bottle to their rooms. If you are hosting a party or reception, or your use of alcohol is sufficiently notorious that it gets the hotel's attention, expect to have to pay $50 a bottle and possibly hire their bartender.
